When do you have too many projects to manage or work on properly? I think I'm hitting my limit with my Jeep.

Projects: Blue means I have parts in the garage

1 - Install new gas tank, but first
2 - I have to remove the old PO bumper, but then:
3 - I have to build a bumper to replace the old one
4 - While the Gas tank is down, I've got to cut out some 3" steel plates the PO installed, my guess was for added weight
5 - Install new E-locker and 3:31 gears
6 - Install the disk brake front axle, which leads to:
7 - Install power brake master cylinder, proportioning valve and booster, naturally:
8 - New brake lines
9 - Finish OBA system, the tank (bottle) will go where the steel plate was
10 - Paint and take pictures of my new "Sport Bar" configuration (I'm lovin' this thing)
11 - Strip the original equipment front fenders and paint
12 - Install parts to allow a true and honest horn button
13 - Reconfigure the stock dash with fancy pop outs for gauges
14 - Wire KC lights
15 - Not jeep related but related to the jeep, finish working on boat

I'm beginning to be a little over whelmed. Are any of you in the same condition?

Yup. Jeep always wanting/needing attention. New to me 91 motor home needing lots of attention and deteriorating home always needing something. Plus Wifeys to do list is always getting in the way. I'm in the process of rebuilding the bathroom now before I can get to the rest of my projects. Not all jeep related, but over whelming.

The 1980 CJ7 I bought in 2009 was ratted out by owners who had no clue. There was some good news... a reman AMC 304 with 4K miles, good paint job, and no rust, not a trace, underneath.

I started at the rear bumper and rebuilt everything I could get a wrench on. I am now finished installing new front drive shaft. My list includes a rebuild of the full front axle, install a TeamRush ignition upgrade (parts in hand), work out the carb stumble off-idle, mount a spare, rewire lights and dash illumination, light winch for the rear to get boat onto trailer w/o pain, convert rear brakes to disc, then start all over again.

It is a race to see if I can live long enough to complete the list.

I'm in the middle of a complete frame off rebuild. That can be over whelming! :shooter: My solution was to set aside the time to work on it. That done, the only thing stopping me is parts, or rather the lack of money to buy the parts. :bang: You seem to have the parts that you need, now you just need the time. :punk: By-the-way, I'm retired, so setting aside time is much easier for me. :D However, there are still days that I wonder how I ever got anything done when I was working. Keep plugging away at the list. :chug:

This is just my jeep related list. :) It seems I'm always on here asking one question or another all related to various things I've got going or things I'm thinkin' about starting. None of my questions are hollow. The odd part is I did as others have done already. Started with the front bumper and basically replaced or rebuilt everything to the rear axle. The jeep is in decent running condition right now, it doesn't absolutely HAVE to have the rest done, .... except for the fuel tank and the rear bumper/tire carrier/gas/water carrier. That will be the fun part, I truly enjoy the creative opportunity my welder provides. Some of the rest, like installing/adjusting the locker gives me some pause. Now for the final push to make the CJ exactly what I want it to be.

Also, I must say, granted it's not a frame off operation. That is a whole different set of projects. In some ways more difficult, in others since you have total access it is easier.

"Overwhelmed" !! I passed that stage about 2 years ago. I'm in my 4th year of a restobuild. The list never seemed to decrease but yet time just kept cruisin' on by. I found that if you'd make a short list and cross things off as they were completed seem to make it look like your making headway.
The other thing is that other projects took a backseat and are building their own list. My garage is 24'x28' by is totally taken up by Jeep stuff and my wood working tools are stored away in the shed so I can't even tackle other projects that need space to do.
I just want to drive the dang thing again!!:(

Garage, OMG my poor garage. I've simply GOT to get to that. MY project table is in a horrible mess. It's to the point where I move one thing and something falls off the other end. Pieces of cut off scrap pipe, removed and replaced nuts and bolts, wiring, switches ....... you get my drift. Then the bigger stuff that is constantly in the way, most of those are in the list above .... fuel tank .... welders .... axle on saw horses .... dash .... master cylinder/booster .... longer pipe scrap .... the list goes on and on. Gotta stop the whining and get to it.

I wish the jeep was the only project I have started that needs that much attention. Unfortunately the jeep is the least expensive of the projects.

Do you ever feel Like a plastic bag Drifting through the wind Wanting to start again?

Do you ever feel so paper-thin Like a house of cards One blow from caving in?

Do you ever feel Already buried deep Six feet under Screams but no one seems to hear a thing?

Do you know that there’s Still a chance for you ‘Cause there’s a spark in you... or your CJ?

First world problem Hedge...haha :D

There's a list in my head, but it hasn't made it too my bench yet because of my thin wallet issues. Granted I just got out of graduate school and am plinking away for now...

...but soon, I too hope to be overwhelmed...so overwhelmed that I end up in LG's garage so he can show me how to install whatever's next on my list, because my garage can't contain it :chug:

I don't feel like I'm in over my head on any of the projects I have prioritized on my list..............I just don't think I have enough years left to complete all of 'em!

The way this stupid economy has been regressing the last bunch of years, I'm aging faster than my bank account can gain. I'm still working with "2006" earnings and we've done crept into 2015. It just don't balance out anymore.

Man, isn't that the truth?
If it weren't for "Trickle Down Economics" I could have a whole fleet of CJs and all the tools I'd like.

Money ... what's that. Part of the reason I've got so many parts is a money issue. Save a little get a part, then do it again until all the parts are there to make a big jump to install them. We all know even the best upgrade plans require last minute extras we haven't collected yet. IE what ever you are doing it will be more expensive than expected.
