Ok, My first post. Im a total newbie with Jeeps. I built several early Broncos over the years but never any jeep related stuff. Im going to pick up a CJ5 today (1969) It has the 225 Dauntless Buick 225 V6 engine and a 3 speed (unk?) It needs a clutch. Anybody have a link or two to good places that have the related parts for the clutch replacement? Also What other stuff might I be interested in looking for or to this Jeep. Im starting off slow with this one, but knowing me it will get full blown addicting. Oh, and whats with the "oil filled" air cleaner? Thanks for any and all help or suggestions.

:ww: bud!

For the clutch, you can check out summit racing, morris 4x4 (one of our sponsers here, check "sponsers tab" up top for discount code) or many other places.

What are your plans for the jeep? road and trail, all trail, buggy? etc. That helps to answer the rest of your questions better.

If the tranny is stock, it should be the T-14 3 speed. Not the "worst" tranny by any means. Heres some info on it: http://www.jeep-cj.com/forums/f105/manual-cj-transmissions-12112/#post97085

and

The Borg-Warner T14 Jeep Transmission - Novak Conversions

It could also be the T-86 , but with the year, should be T-14 .

Check for casting numbers when you get ahold of it and go from there.

Then I suggest driving it around a bit, and seeing what you like / dont like. that will shed more light on what to do next!

Thanks for the help. I believe I will just get the clutch going and run it pretty much stock till about November. Then Im thinking of putting new suspension parts on it and a slight body lift.

I found this one: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/c...ons/year/1969/make/jeep/model/cj5?prefilter=1

But may be a little pricey and over kill (depending again on what you want to do with jeep) but Centerforce IS a good clutch kit.

You can get one from Quadratec: AMS Automotive 01-029 - AMS Automotive Clutch Kit for 66-71 Jeep® CJ Series with 3.7L V-6 Engine & 72-75 CJ Series with 3.8L V-6 Engine - Quadratec

Though looks like guy on ebay is selling exact same kit for less: Luk 01 029 New Clutch Set | eBay

There's some options. I didn't research too far though, make sure they are right before buying! Don't just take my word for it
