Just got these and the holes don't line up. And the bolts are to big for the holes. Did I buy the wrong ones?

The hooks you purchased will work just fine. Mounting them on the bumper mount location, in my opinion is not a good idea. I would recommend installing them on the crossmember, close to the frame welds, making sure none of those welds are cracked. Also before you start drilling, pick a location that can be accessed from underneath clear of the steering box mounts.

CJ's never came with tow hooks. So anything is a custom mount.

You should be able mount it to the frame with holes 1 and 2. Hole 1 is also used to hold on the bumper.

Thank you for the advice.. I have some homework to do. I wasn't expecting to drill. The current hole on the jeep frame must of been for fog lights and something else.

Csuenger is correct, but the earlier Jeep Grand Cherokees did, and they were made from forged steel, not like the cheap aftermarket ones that were made from pot metal. Both were rated at 10,000 lbs on a straight on pull, but on a side pull, the aftermarket ones can bend over.

From what I've seen from the aftermarket hooks, the 3 hole ones work on 87-95 YJ Wranglers, and the 2 hole ones will bolt onto later CJ (and TJ's, too).

I'm not much help, as I don't know where I got them from, but mine used the first two stock holes and I drilled a third hole for the furthest back. I like these as I don't "snag" anything on them.

My Uncles has a pair like you've got though, and Seems like the front of his jeep was extended for larger winch so they added at that time...

Drilling holes isn't too big of a deal though bud. :D It's a Jeep! ;)

I have the two hole ones on mine and didn't have to do any drilling.

Thanks for all input... As you can see by the picture... the 3 -hook
is about 1 and half inches about between 1-2 holes... a little less between 2-3..
and almost 3 inches between 1-3holes.

Holes on the jeep are about 2 inches...

If you have the two hole chrome hooks... Are the holes 2 inches a part?
Maybe I will call a store to see if they can measure for me before I order them.

Just called a place on a 2- hole chrome hook...and they measured 1 inch and a half.... I am going to keep the ones I got and drill holes and use the third hold for more spacing between bolts. You guys are awesome for providing information. I will post a jeep picture once done.
