Has anyone pulled a military trailer behind their CJ? I am going to pick one up but am concerned about the width. My CJ is about 69 wide. Lokking at 3/4 to 1T trailers.

I towed a M-100 behind a M-38 jeep (CJ2 ) in 1964 for the National Guard.
Hauled our duffle bags in them. I owned a M-416 (Vietnam era) trailer that is size appropriate for a jeep . I would not think the larger trailers would be
a good fit for your vehicle. :) mike

I was thinking of an M116.

T-M, ya that looks like it would work.I was not familiar with that model so I did a little research. That is a beefy trailer that would probably be in proportion with the CJ7 .Are they available for a good price? I really liked my m-416 but didn't have much need and sold to a Canadian for a OK price. May have to modify the hitch a little bit. Good luck and lets see pictures when you get it. :) mike

Personally I like the look and stance of the M 116 & 101, but a bare 116 starts at just under 800 lbs unloaded whereas the M100 or 416 weigh 550 lbs empty. The 100/416 have 1/4 ton ratings and the 101/116 are 1 ton rated as you stated. What are you wanting to haul?

Actually won't haul to much. Planning on mounting a toolbox and bench vice and a few other things.

Haul the occasional axle, drive shaft or tc/tranny/engine

Looks like I will rule out the M116, it's just to big for a CJ. It should be ok for the FSJ though.

A buddy of mine is toying with the idea of selling his M101, and I thought about buying it until I parked my 8 next to it. His trailer with the bows and cover are about 18+ inches taller, much wider as you mentioned too. M101-116's fit a full sized truck or HMMWV better.

Thats a much better fit for a CJ. Finding a nice one that isnt over-priced is the hard part.
