TCase Trying to track down a noise
Hello. I have been trying to track down a noise and I am having trouble. There are a few things going on so I will try to outline them all. I also plan to try and make a video of the noise. Any help in diagnosis or ways to try and find the noise would be appreciated.
I have a custom crossmember that mounts to the TH350/Dana 300 adapter. I previously had a DIY Transmission mount and it was all bent up. I was tracking down a leaking transmission and needed to support the transmission while I removed the crossmember. I replaced the DIY transmission mount with one from Energy suspension (picture attached). I had the bearings and seals replaced on the tcase as well. I did not do the tcase work myself
After putting everything back together, there is a "grinding" noise when I decelerate or accelerate. Grinding is the best way that I can describe it. It almost sounds like something is trying to go into gear or get in place. I have twin sticks on the tcase and have front in neutral, rear in high.
What happens is basically this, with a few variables. Let's say I am driving 40 mph and am coming up to a stop sign. I let off the gas and the noise starts. It lasts for maybe one or two seconds and then stops. If I push on the gas again, it starts again for a few seconds and then stops again. So, it only happens on loading and unloading. In trying to troubleshoot I replaced the rear driveshaft u-joints. That did not fix it. I am not sure where the noise could be coming from.
