:chug:Well lets have some views and opinions on the above ,do you think that a person should be fined harshly if he has had a few beers ,in the wild while driving ,I feel no man ! the rules for drunk driving must be Laxed while in the outback .

In india Mumbai city is the worst place for drunk driving ,they put even the girls for a day behind bars here .SO IT IS really strict here .
Tell us about drunk driving laws in your own countries and we can have nice discussions ,tell us about any funny or not so funny incidents where you were caught drunk drinving .And mayb some time when u guys went on a 4 X 4 in the wild and enjoyed the ride with a few beers in the cock pit :D

Well just writing about it ,makes me wanna have a few cold uns' :chug::drool:

Just to clarify ;I am in no way supporter of drunk driving and I feel that the laws have been made for our safety and we must follow them as much as possible !!

I agree that drunk driving laws are in place for our safety plus when driving on unpaved roads/trail/rockpiles/mudpits/anything else us jeepers like to do with our Jeeps when they are not on paved roads. We need to be extra alert offroad because the chances are better of something happening that you need to be aware of. You have to get home sometime too.:driving:

Well right ,but a man needs to take rest and absorb the nature sometimes on the way ...well mayb a few pints or two by the river side seem so much tempting ... ,dont you agree to that..

A lot of the trails I ride on are on the sides of a mountain where you could end up dead or hurt really bad if you messed up, so no drinking.
Now after the ride, sitting around the camp fire a few drinks are fine. As long as the only place we are going is to bed.:chug:

the ONLY Way I personally will bave a beer around my truck is if its in the garage, not running.
Alcobol really has no place in a rig while its moving, no matter driver or passenger. too much can happen in a very short time to be hampered by alcohols effect on the mind.
honestly, if i see someone wheeling drunk, I WILL report them.

I have been plenty tore up while on an off road trip. Cooler full of beer and ice and lots o fun to be had. AFTER the Jeep is parked and the wheeling is over for the day. Sittin around a camp fire and telling tales is the place for beer and booze, not while you're navagating an obstacle, hanging off a cliff, or pulling cable.

Absolutely. After the wheeling is done, sitting around the fire, swapping lies about who was the best wheeler of the day. Or at the one club members garage known as the "Time Warp", a couple cold beverages while working out lifes problems is also good. (Goes by that name as time disappears when you go there. Seems like you just get there and the better halves are saying it is early the next morning and time to go home) :D

Our club has a strict no alcohol rule while wheeling and I fully agree with it. After having a club member have a serious rollover with injuries, I was glad that all the other members were in full control to help out.

I think everyone can agree, drinking around the fire while telling stories to prove who has the biggest member is an important part of being outdoors. Personally, I have seen too many incidents where some noob wheeler had a few too many and caused some major damage to their rig or themselves.

Keep the booze in the cooler until you reach camp. If you still want to drive after a few beers, drink until you forget about it. :chug:

driving while drunk is not the sign of a good driver.Their are very strict rules for this .Most of all the charms of driving are lost. One sould be sensible enough before going to the driving seat.

I am delighted to read so many intelligent and very balanced views about drinks and drive and I feel really happy that views are quite balanced and not overtly politically correct .Pointing out the fun ,whilst also considering the dangers in mixing drinks with driving .To add to the discussion it also depends on the person and his capacity ;how much is too much ,in the old days there were no rules as such but people still used to drive coolly ,still today the truckers cannot drive untill they have had their qupta of a few pegs rolled down their throats,so I dont think there can be a strict touch-me-not 100% even while driving,it really depends on the man behind the wheel and his self judgement some people may hate it but I agree that while driving around the mountains etc one has to be extra careful ,but then I feel a person has to be responsible enough to make that judgement.
Respecting all your opinions I have a little differnet and old fashioned approach to the whole thing .But I did like the posts about the "time warp" and wonder how much similar the guys are anywhere in the world you go!:chug:

The recent answers gives a me a warm and fuzzy feeling seeing that I have seen what drinking and driving can and WILL do. If on private property you can probably get away with it if there are no unfortunate incidents, BUT if on public, or Gov property then I would not want to get caught wheeling while intoxicated.;)

if ya are wheeling with me, and you drink, you are asked to leave
seen some deaths caused by drinking and driving both on and off road

You know... I have been guilty of drinking and driving more than once. Ever had an accident? No. Get caught? No. Call it stupid. I should have been.

Someone has to be responsible.

A friend of mine was at the mud races a little while back and ruined his truck because he did the "look at this" thing.

I have seen a lot of the "look at this" thing lately. Its never a pretty ending.

I will NOT wheel with anyone who has been drinking...period, And as for after and at the campsite well it's on then :D. And thank god it has been a while since I've heard "Hold my beer and watch this"

I don't drink and I don't want my daughter around people that are drinking. Even around the camp fire it was getting to be too much, so we wheel alone most of the time.

GPER I totally understand and the few times I've wheeled with this bunch they never got out of control while drinking at the campfire so it can remain family friendly.

Sounds like you need to find a new group of people to wheel with, as wheeling alone is not a good thing to do.
