I have a project Jeep I am trying to finish. I didn't receive any belts with it, and can't seem to find any belt numbers with my googler. My 84 has power steering and air conditioning. These are the v belt style. I would rather order some online than go to the local auto parts store. Much cheaper. Thanks.

Still confused. Not sure if I have the correct belts or not. 3 came with the project, (as did 2 radiators, both don't fit). Bought 2 that Autozone had in stock that said they fit. Every pulley has 2 groove except which has only one. The alternator is mounted above the A/C compressor. Most pics I find online show the opposite. Everything so far on this build has been a battle. Not having fun. Beginning to really hate this thing. I'll never buy a project again. Especially one that was already in pieces. I like my AMX's so much better. They run and drive. 33 emails back and forth with the A/C components Supplier. Shipped me extra fittings going on the 4th time now, to build hoses. I am not any farther on that today than I was a month ago on that part of it.

Not sure. Got some from autozone today. Not sure if this is routed correctly? Thanks guys.

i would say thats pretty close to correct, the compressor needs a longer belt to go from the crank to fan to compressor and you should be set from there. the alternator and compressor pulleys will turn with the engine, the compressor has an electric clutch that engages with the pulley to get the compressor to pump Freon.

it appears from your photo that the only way the alternator will turn is if the AC is on. On my AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l the PS runs on the innermost belt, the AC on the middle belt and the alternator on the outside belt.

the compressor pulley will turn anytime the belt moves, it has an electric clutch built into it to drive the compressor when the ac systems asks for it. Therefore the alternator will turn as well.
