very loud starting noise

79 CJ7 with a AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l . I recently replaced my fly wheel and ever since when i crank it up it sounds horrible. I cranks but very loudly. The starter is about three years old ans fly wheel new. Any suggestions to make my cj crank quitely

Remove the inspection plate and have a look.

You could pull the starter and notice the gears on the starter and flywheel for excessive wear. This could be cured by using shims. As Posi stated though there could be a misalignment and/or wrong parts. I would think the bluing used for differential setup could be used here to check alignment.

Well to update my post I found the problem WRONG PART sold to me by O_____ auto. The computer they use only show one fly wheel and it does not fit a 1979. LOO AT ALL REPLACEMENT PARTS DO'NT TRUST ANY PARTS HOUSE COMPUTER THEY CAN BE WRONG
