I bought a prefab garage (14'x24') to store my CJ5 , dirt bikes, parts and what ever else I need. The CJ5 was put outside to make room for my CJ8 restoration and I wasn't too happy about that. So the one I bought I found at a fair. The sales guy told me how it has a full size garage door for automobiles and I knew that they made a quality product. I have one of their smaller sheds in my back yard. It was deliverd last week and this Sunday I finally had time to go and load her up with my toys. I noticed the garage door was slightly lower than the one in my house is that raised concern since my CJ is lifted. Well, after some measuring I realized that I had to remove the soft top to try and fit her inside. Plus I didn't want to risk tearing the top up the first time in. After getting the Jeep in it looks like I am going to have to raise the whole garage door up a few inches and then make some sort of removable riser plate on the floor to seal the bottom when the door and fully down. Man it is a tight fit. The bottom handle had to be removed the clear the rollbar.

Here are the pics.

I noticed the tires appear to be fully inflated.

Deflate for overhead clearance.

Every time I want to drive it? Na. I just need to raise the total height of the door.

Agreed. At my last house I had to deflate the tires on my CJ5 to get it in the garage. It was a pain in the butt. It was on crappy 35s that rubbed all over off road so dropping to 33s was perfect. Raise the door , once and done. :)

Raise the whole building up one block.:D

sorry,,,I am laughing my <-BAD WORD-> off at the whole thread!!!

Not the part about your perdicament, just the different thoughts about how to resolve it...

How about cutting a pair of tracks into the floor so your ride is about 6 inches lower....

sorry, Just kidding about that one..

I was imagining deflating/inflating every time you came in and out (you do what you gotta do) and thinking what a pain in the <-BAD WORD-> it would be..... Still LOL at it...I'm just imagining myself cussing every time I had to plug in the compressor to air up every time I wanted to drive it... Or worse yet, coming home in the rain, and having to get out and deflate while getting drenched, just to fit it in the garage...... FUNNY IMAGE...

my post wasnt very constructive, just struck me as funny...

seriously,,,good luck with the door mod

Jeez man, that sucks! I don't know what you can do, but I worried about the same thing happening with my jeep/garage. I just had my buddy drive his jeep over to my house to see if his fit, which is higher than mine would ever be, before I bought my lift/tires. It would be such a PITA to have to deflate the tires every time I drove the jeep! Did you call the company and tell them about what happened?

My thoughts were for storage only not dd. I have plenty of height in my garage and have more tire bulge then shown in the pics.

I didn't call the company. It's not their fault for this. I should have look better into the specs. Once the Scrambler is finished then it will become it's perminent home so at least I know how high I can build it.
The funny thing is I got this garage so my wife can park her pretty little forester in the garage during the winter. I can't believe I caved and let her have it. Doesn't she understand that my two Jeeps are far more important than a Suburu? After all the CJ5 has been with me for 20 years and she has only been around for 5. What's with this strange power that the woman's vagina has over men?

Maybe raise the door a couple inches and add a 2" sweep on the bottom of the door? :dunno:
