My VIN is pictured below. I have an 86 CJ7 with a AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l and four speed manual. What is the "F" for? Shouldn't it be an "M"?

Mine had some unadvertised electrical issues that are costing me some $ to fix. My advise is for anyone to see the vehicle IN PERSON before buying from them...
Anyhow, it does look just as good in person and mileage appears to be accurate.

I found another website (offroaders.com) which gave more options for position 5 of the VIN. F is the same a N. Apparently, a PO switched the 5 speed for a 4 speed. After driving it some, I am happy with the 4 speed - don't know if I would have used 5th much anyhow....
