I did the AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l head and FI swap a while back. I added the in-line E 2000 fuel pump.

I'm getting ready to do a run with a few friends and it occurred to me that the pump will be submerged in water at least once during the trip.

how would I be able to waterproof the pump? I assume the electrical will short. I've always had in tank pumps.

Start by packing all electrical at the FP with dielectric grease.
Carry a spare FP just in case.

Always got a spare. ;)

But I would like to avoid it. Have you ever sealed up electrical with that plastic dip stuff?

I have used liquid electrical tape with very good results.
Clean with alcohol before applying.
