What did you do to or with your CJ today?
Replaced the original 35 year old front seats and brackets with new Corbeau seats and brackets. Larger in size, they still fit well into the CJ7 . Driver side bumps up against the padded roll bar, common for that side of the jeep with most seat applications. Passenger side reclines without any problem. I did loose the ability to "fold" the seats forward for entry to the rear seat but the recline and slide of these seats works well. Carolyn has been sitting in the passenger side- no slide- for so long that the new seats have given her a new love for our trusty old AMC. She has even hinted that my long legs will fit very well in the passenger side. I think she has designs on my favorite place in the CJ. All in all we are very pleased with the change. Back seat is next.

Thirty minutes for the swap could have gone quicker perhaps but there were the beer breaks.

I think somewhere OSHA requires beer breaks during such work..... may just be a recommendation- can't remember. But nice job!! They look VERY good. And they don't look much taller in the base as some have complained.....

The seat does sit a bit higher but I think it is more the result of brand new foam. I like it better than the old wore out seat I sat in for years. Many of the complaints of sitting higher seem to have come from folks trying to match up the OEM brackets with the Corbeau seat. Still others complained that the same combination resulted in the seat leaning forward. Putting the seat on the bracket designed for it works great. Gone is the heavy, creaking, groaning, twisting, noisy AMC bracket. I think as soon as the new cushion forms to my old derrier it will be perfect. The change is truly wonderful so far. Totally happy. Time will tell.

Re-purposed some "skids" from an FSJ and since I don't have a back seat, found a use for the captures nuts.

Finished up disassembly... well, except for grinding on some brackets of the front suspension...

Killer thing is from what I've read about building a vehicle, and from talking to those few people I know who've done it...

Taking the old one apart... That was the easy part.

Disassembly is WAY easier. Reassembly is cleaner, if that’s any consolation

Mine is more timing / carb adjustment related. Was gonna take a victory lap around the neighborhood, but the clutch wouldn't release. Needs more throw..... or push. First one the the other.

Looks good there Gert, Although a tire smoking burnout would have been outstanding. After you fix that exhaust leak of course.
