What did you do to or with your CJ today?

Got my build out of the garage and off the farm finally!! It was a beautiful day, really hot for this time of year and the Snow pack in the mountains is melting fast, made for a nice muddy ride!! PXL_20240316_192854196.webp

Ordered a little while back the MORE steering cross brace and put it today. What was pretty amazing was the back bolt hole on the frame for the back bolt has never been used Threads were still good. Just cleaned them out a little.0CDECE54-14BE-43E2-BD78-2BC0590DA9D9.jpeg7B012F54-14E0-45E0-A649-7F873536CE14.jpeg2A8651F1-8AD8-45D4-89DB-286EF9E4CCF9.jpegB97A489A-ECD5-47FA-B45E-48EA5BF3CA0A.jpeg

Nice notice a difference?

No. Have not driven it yet. Now that I’m putting bigger tires I bought for road trips and off-roading, and heading to Moab, I figured for a few dollars I would put it on. Since my frame is solid and never abused yet, I probably didn’t need it, but got it just in case.

I'm installing some new hotness on a customers CJ7 with the AMC 304 and testing out a hammock shelter with my CJ7 11436b01f1f1cde270c79542c19f516f.webp010fb27d8cac776d86f58987d48b5caf.webpb5df916362e3d274f629cf4827825c1d.webpb6fbf3c6712516ce9af617b0a0bf8053.webpc083f44a30806346d3e26aa1ac69fd36.webp

Got all bushings replaced and pins drilled and zerked. No more articulation squeaks.

I always considered getting this brace but I can’t use it with my aftermarket steering box. It helps with deflection and the very heavy stresses on the steering box. Bolts will be less likely to loosen.

Bought some BFG tires on line a couple weeks ago. Got my buddy to mount and balance them. Finally got them installed yesterday and took a drive today. Went from 31s to 33s. The plan is to usually drive the 31s and when I take a 4 wheeling trip I’ll switch to the 33s. The 31s are from when I had a 4 cylinder. Probably at least 20 - 30K miles of tread let. Before and after pictures next.

That's what I do. I run around on 31s and switch to 33s when I go wheeling

I do switch them out also for my 33’s on 15” rims on those occasional offroading days. They are dusty.

Are you getting another set of rims for the tyres you unmounted…

Post up what you get.

Got me this tool roll. It fits in the center console.

I actually found a set of original wheels 8 - 10 years ago and got them blasted and painted. Then when I was ready I mounted the 31s on those. My original had been in the attic for a few years and I mounted the 33s on the originals. That plan had been around for a few decades waiting on a larger engine transplant which also happened and finished almost 18 months ago.
