70 cj6 4 inch lift
I cannot tel anyone what to do, it is their Jeep
however, I will state I think flat fenders look good on original flat fenders and TJs, and that is all. A CJ5 ,6,7,8 or a JK do not look good with them, they look out of place on these models. OK, that is my opinion and like all opinions..........
You need to go with a decision you make yourself, and balance that decision with the knowledge that the retro flt fender look will die out such as trends do, and then you have a dated project, not a classic CJ8 .
as an example, remember that movie about the guy who had made that customized Vette in high school shop, it got stolen and he spent the rest o the movie searching it down till he stole it back? Well that Vette looked trick for the time of the movie, but looks hideous by today's standards.
Again, just an opinion.
I predict that in 20 years, Original TJ fenders will be a hot object as all those flat fendered TJ owners will be searching for stock fenders to restore their Jeeps

Im just getting idea's not going with full flat fenders looking at building a tube fender off of the factory ones and making a rear corner peice
Idea i have right now for the rear is getting some pipe 1/4 in wall cutting only the radius out that i need for the corner and adding 1/4 flat plat to all the way to the tail gate and maybe half way to the rear tire well
for the front fenders im still in the thought progress so thats going to be a while

I like the round stock Cj fenders myself. I'll trim them out to fit larger tires and slap Tj style flares on them but the round front has to be there. It just looks right with the grill.
1979 Jeep CJ5 with 304 V8, T18 Transmission, Dana 20 Transfer case with TeraLow 3:1 gears, 4.88 axle gears, Detroit Locker up front and Ox Locker in back with 1 piece axle shafts, 36" SuperSwamper SX Tires, Shackle reversal, MileMarker Hydraulic winch, MSD 6A ignition.
Get your tube fenders. The hell with the "classic CJ look". You can gain 4 or more inches of tire clearance with tube fenders. If you are going with bigger tires you don't want to lift your jeep another 4 inches just for the sake of the fenders. With jeeps, I think function should come before looks.
just like bajaedition said opinions are like aholes everybody has one. do what you like afterall its your jeep just cause i or others don't like em doesn't mean anything. but petescj has a good point if you want to keep the classic fenders and still get tire clearance. no offense intended busadave
I love the look of the rock crawler fenders but I agree that they will get over used and become cliche just like the fake bead lock rims, exo-cages and light bars. I have wasted alot of money on things that I got tired of quickly. Now I keep my Jeep more stock looking with all the cool mods done for the function of the vehicle. I even have the one peice front end on my Jeep because in 1993 that was the hot ticket and I bought one when I did my body swap. Everyone allways oogled over it when they would aproach me about my Jeep. I hate the damn thing now. I cannot wait to get it off the Jeep and back to regular fenders that actually give me places to mount things under the hood.
I'm Building tube fenders for my CJ now. I like the look, but most of all I chose them for durability, and clearance. I like the classic fender look if I was going to keep it mainly on the street, but I'm building my CJ for the trail. Not a big fan of the classic-krinkled look.
