What do you do when you hit your monthly budget?
No worries on thinking your hijacking guys the thread going going better than expected for me. Hack has basically helped me plan out my jeeps interior. I named my jeep lockjaw and now I can have that engraved on the dash. Thanks Hack lol.

but since your paying a shop to do the work you could save yourself a lot of coin learning to do it yourself.

Sometimes it's not always about the money and completely understand why he's doing it. I'm in the opposite position as hack. My kids are young and I want to enjoy the time with them as much as possible and not in the garage hours on end by myself away from my family. Besides, I have way too many other hobbies I need to make time for as well. Just like the commercial, they pay you extra for over-time because of the things you are missing.

I couldn't find anyone to do what I wanted, the way I wanted to the level I wanted so yes, I'm doing it myself. I'm having fun, learning a lot about but am ready for it to be done so I can drive it and get back to having evenings and weekends with the kiddos.

i have a six year old daughter. i get her out there wrenching with me. well, actually right now she's my tool fetcher. and she lays under the jeep and asks questions. add about double to the time table for any project but weeellll worth the time spent. as she gets older she'll be able to fix her own stuff saving her some cash. and those bastages at the shop won't be able to put one over on her just because she's a chick.

they do it to my sister all the time. my mom was one of those "women don't need to work on cars, that's mens work!" well my sis who doesn't have a guy in her life is paying out the nose for that one.

oops rant off. but i get where your coming from on the time issues. it was just a suggestion on how to stretch a buck like the op wanted. didn't know his circumstances.

Yes, that is a good idea and I've heard it many times before IF they enjoy it. Mine don't and I don't blame 'em.
