What is a good junkyard replacement for front seats and slider track for a cj7

Need to replace the front seats in my jeep does anyone know of a good replacement I can find in a junk yard ?

The main problem with using junkyard seats is that on average, they are much thicker in the bottom sections and sit on flat risers or brackets. When you retrofit them onto the CJ riser (which is leaned), they are higher in the front and your legs can barely fit under the steering wheel in some cases.
My feet don't even touch the floor!

My buddy did the Chevy Caviler seats in his 89 YJ. They are still a little off/different than stock, but are a good choice for junkyard seats. Ive read that the seats will bolt right onto the stock CJ/YJ sliders/risers. In his case his slider (only driver side till 91) was locked still with rust. I noticed the caviler slider was nice and fit the bolt pattern of the riser. BUT one side was off or different. Anyway, combined with a second passenger side caviler slider, I made a nice slider that bolted right in with a little drilling/welding.
They only change I would do is try to raise the rear of the seat just a tad to closer match the stock rake.

I have heard others say the the Cavalier seats work well. But I do not have any first hand knowledge.

I seem to remember people putting late 80s early 90s Honda CRX seats in there jeeps a while ago. That little hatchback car thing. I am probably wrong but I think the bolted right up to the sliders.

I have heard that the early Wrangler buckets would bolt right in. Take your tape measure when you go.

the seat thickness is very important. I have too thick of seats and in a roll over my head would scramble my brain like an egg from hitting the rollbars.

Think it through good. Hard to get without being able to pre-fit.

I scored 2013 KIA seats for mine at the boneyard for $15.00 each. Mounting? Nothing a little 1/4 hot roll won't fix.

I get that this thread is old but just in case someone needs a little more info on the Cavalier seat swap and because I just did this swap in my 1976 CJ7 .

I found a four door driver seat from a 99 Cavalier and a passenger seat from an 03 two door Cavalier. The mounting points are the same it's just that the 2 door passenger seat has the flip forward option in order for people to get in the back seat. You DO NOT need the brackets or sliders from the Cavalier.

The cavalier seats WILL bolt directly to 92 or 93-95 YJ sliders. I have flip forward CJ seat brackets, the passenger side is original and the driver side I bought from an 84 CJ7 (the original didn't flip forward).

You will have to elongate the holes on the CJ brackets inwards 1/4" on the driver side at all 4 holes(start with the back ones since the front are slotted) but on the passenger side you will have to elongate or slot the front 2 holes and drill 2 new holes in the back.

This swap works really well and the Cavalier seats are comfortable and have a nice faux wool fabric. They do sit a little low in the back. I ended up putting 1/2" spacers between the slider and the bracket on the driver's side. It helped a bit but was still a little low in the back. Being a little low was OK since it gave me more space between my head and roll cage. I bought my sliders from Ray's Wranglers and they were very helpful and the price was fair at $25.00 a piece.
