What did you and your jeep do to top off your bucket list? I thought it would be fun to share some of our best jeep memories.

For example, this weekend when I crashed the classic car show. My husband casually mentioned that he wished we had something to drive in the cruise and I thought "Hey some awesome guy bought me a 1960 willys and what's more classic than that?" So, I signed us up and washed most of the mud away. We had a blast. And no, we didn't win but I was a crowd favorite plus later when we went to the cruise, my friend Kim showed up with her family in her 1961. Her son turned on her wench which resulted in some very exciting sparks, smoke, and a melted lead terminal. I almost got to use my fire extinguisher. Kim was thrilled because she' seen wanted her husband to take the wench off for months and has been coveting my fire extinguisher. Then, when the Chevy blazer guys snidely informed us that they didn't have a wrench because they didn't need tools. My husband said "that's because they are so busy buying parts they can't afford them." Whaaaaa! Then he fixed Kim's battery with his Swiss Army knife because lets face it Jeeps and Swiss Army knives have been saving the world for decades! They are like cheese and crackers. Plus after all the beautiful bel airs swept past, the little boy at the fire station said he wanted a jeep like mine AND both Kim and I were asked to drive prom kings and queens during home coming this week. My jeep is awesome!:)

My love for jeeps started way back with my grandfather. He had an old WWII flat top that he used a lot, he was a forester in the Adirondacks. Grandpa was sure the old Willys could go any where, I remember that part of the story. But my dad told the story of grandpa not showing up for dinner and they go worried about him. Eventually he showed up covered in mud and dead tired. ..... no jeep, no vehicle of any kind, he was on foot. As he told the story Grandpa couldn't figure out how he got stuck, it wasn't a very big muddy spot, the jeep should have made it through with no problem. So Dad, his brother Grey and grandpa got the old tractor out and headed up into the woods. Dad said, "Here we were diring along when the tractor light hit two shinny spots at ground level. Grandpa said there it is, everybody went, "where?". "Right there". THe two shinny spots were the head lights burried about 1/2 deep in mud." It took them most of the night to get the old Willys out.

...... When I see Ice Road Truckers it reminds me that driving the ice roads was nothing new. In the Adirondacks loggers have been doing it for almost a century. Dad hauled logs and talked about driving down hill 1/2 the way and up hill the other 1/2. They had a miserable forman that scooted around on another Military Willys jeep. One of the guys dad worked with had a wild side, Ethal was fired a few times a week, but did more work by accident that any two men did on purpose. Well, one spring the ice was getting thin and he saw the bosses jeep go through the ice. The boss got out alright, but his hat was floating in the hole in the ice. So old Ethal grabbed up a stick and went out all sad like and crying about how the miserable SOB went out the way he lived all the while fishing the hat out of the water. Of course the boss was standing in the tree line right behind him and came out boiling mad. "Ethal you stupid SOB, your FIRED." Ethal laughed until he almost cried, then said, "heres your hat, now how are we going to get that jeep out of the lake." ......

This not my story, but told to me by Roger Mackimmie (aka Mac`s Jeeparts),
It was his first Jeep a M38 Military that he bought as a senior at Toledo HS, and he drove it everyday to and from school and to his dads wood mill in Toledo were he worked the afternoons. Well one day as him and his friends were sitting in class at the last period of the day. One friend said look at this Jeep, as they looked out the window, it looks like yours.
Mac jumped up and said that is my Jeep, as 4 girl classmates went driving by and waving and honking that distinctive Willy`s beep beep horn. He could not do anything because his teacher would not let him leave, but he had to go find them after school down at the beach.
Later he had to wire in a secret hidden key switch since the Military`s had just a turn knob.

I'll never forget the day I bought my jeep. I slung the driveshaft onto the interstate. Had to walk a couple hundred yards picking up driveshaft pieces. I came home on the front driveshaft after stopping and getting a twelver
