Sitting here with some time to spare, was looking back over some of the trips our family has taken. Made me start thinking about the places we have gone on these trips. Add in the specials they have been running on our Park system really has me thinking of them.

So it got me wondering since this site has members all over. What is your favorite National Park? And if you don't mind my asking, why?

Ocala Nationalile forrest... Great to place and wheel and camp! :) (my sp is way off)

Big Bend is the National Park I've been to most. It & the two adjacent properties have a lot of non or seldom maintained roads perfect for Jeepers. The Park has a lot of History, White water, Mountains & natural hot springs to boot.:driving:

Acadia National Park in Bar Harbor ME. Went then an camped when I was staioned at NAS Brunswick, it was fun, nothing spectacular, but it was with my ex-wife

Steamtown USA, used to be a privately run train yard museum. Because of the extensive amount of vintage steam power railroad, stuff (for a lack of better word), the National Parks Service took it over. My step-son is a HUGE train fanatic, and it was worth the trip. I do have to say, it was really cool seeing all of those old steam engines.

The Smokies are not to far away so we visit them the most to go hicking and campimg.
Our favorite though is Yosemiti (sp?) we love the mountains,The falls are awsom and lots of hicking trails.

I'm with Longhorn. Big Bend National Park is our favorite. With over AMC 150 miles of backcountry roads, scenery from mountain to river to desert, accomodations from primitive camping to motel/lodge, generally not crowded.

I see the spouse is compensating for your carbon footprint!
Carbon.webp

Yeah, I'm hoping there's some kind of subsidy like cap and trade.

More likely they will come up with a "Pre Tax for Battery Disposal". Remember: "No Good Deed Goes Un-Punished".

Backroads of Big Bend
The many miles of dirt roads in Big Bend National Park will lead you across washboards and boulders, through canyons and creekbeds, past old settlements and cemeteries. As an end in themselves, or as a means to access hiking trails or the river, the backroads may also test your vehicle and your driving skills. These roads are not for those who want to keep their expensive four-wheel-drive vehicles in pristine condition, but for those who wish to leave the blacktop behind and experience the park more slowly and intimately. The apparent monochrome of the desert separates into many unexpected hues as your slower driving pace provides a more close-up view of the desert vegetation. Several of the dirt roads provide excellent vantage points to see the looming South Rim of the Chisos Mountains change color throughout the day.

Yosemite is the prettiest
I like
Zion and Grand canyon the best for the hikes

Fully agree with you on Zion being a fantastic hiking destination.

Some other great parks listed as well, few I have visited, but a couple new ones.

I like Yosemite, used to live just an hour and a half away from the east entrance. I also like Death valley in the spring great wildflowers. Yellowstone and Grand Canyon are also favorites.

Living just south of Grand Teton,& Yellowstone Natl. parks i love it here.
We have Yogi, Wiley, Bullwinkle,& Rocky, & of course the Big Bad Wolf.
Big mountains, waterfalls, etc.
Every park has its own beauty, but we don't have petroglyphs, or pictographs up here.
I have a special place in my heart for Zion, & Canyonlands Natl. parks.
When i wander through the desert i feel magic.
When i finally made it to "The Maze" in Canyonlands i felt as alone as if i were the only one on earth. I truthfully have never ever seen so many stars in the sky.
Trouble is, i want to visit other National treasures, It's just....... time.
Let's go!!!!!!!!

My favorite national park is The Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve. Its located in southern Colorado about 2 hours from my house. Its really a beautiful sight. Lots of cool stuff to do too. But the best thing about it is taking the CJ5 down the sand road and up and over Medano Pass. My Dad used to take me all the time when I was a kid, and now I get to share that with my boys. Also, the entrance to Blanca Pass is only about 10 or so miles from the dunes. I've never been over Blanca, but one of these days I'd like to attempt it.

I'd just like to say that I've never been to any of the major parks, Yellow Stone, Yosemite etc. But we are planning to take those trips very soon.
