What motor do I have?

What motor do I have?
I dont think you want to keep the single barrel carb on it. How close are you to Natural Bridge? I think I have a 2 barrel one downstairs you can have for $0. :)

im assuming that is the reason the fuel filter had 2 lines out?

Heres a pic for you. This is the AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l in my Limited that I havent really touched. :o The single side of the fuel filter goes directly to the mechanical fuel pump on your engine block. The other side of the fuel filter has 2 ports. The one closest to you in the picture goes to your fuel tank. The other feeds directly into our carb. :)

no pic is showing up but by your explanation i understand
so one side goes back to the fuel tank ? never heard of that before
i got it running today by feeding gas into the carb
fuel pump is out so im getting one tommorrow

Awe :dung: I mustve forgot to add the pic. :o Here it is. Not being a wise guy but if one doesnt go to the fuel tank where does the gas come from? :D

i knew the one side came from the fuel tank
i had never seen anything have a return line to the fuel tank

im pleased to say i got the key switch changed and now i have it running also
im feeling acomplished

I gotta quit joking around so much. :) When the original poster said "one side goes back to the fuel tank , I never heard of that before" I took that as a joke. I was thinking the single line from the fuel pump.

That is the return line to the tank leaving that filter I believe?

im a little slow but not quite that bad lol
my temp, oil pressure and alt gauge all work gauge
so you never said what is wrong with a single barrel carb?

Depending on your needs for the Cj I never liked the single barrel on my 79 Cj. I bought a remanufactured one and it was slightly better. Me being in mostly 80s Cjs for awhile I think youd like to run a Mc2100 or 2150 which is a two barrel carb that youd need the manifold for.

did we decide how close we are to each other?
i live just outside corbin

Im in Pa but supposed to be down in Natural Bride Ky by the 12th of July. Having a tough time finding a camping spot right now though.

All those vacuum lines scare me. The 77 motor in mine doesn't have any of that.
