the rev limiter is one reason i was looking at it. some times in the mudd i dont pay attention to my tach and want to make sure i dont over rev the engine.

I never had that problem with my AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l . I would put it to the floor and the motor would spin up to it's max torque and stay there right around 2900rpm.
