here's a question for you. can you put a price on your jeep? is it just an object to you? or are you more attached to it, like i am? i have a tendency to get attached to my vehicles, my wife says i'm sick and laughs at me, but i can't help it :D

My uncle has tried offering me 1000 dollars for my jeep so he can put a plow on it and sell it for more i told him id need 1900(what i have into it) and then i probably wouldnt even sell it because it means more to me then my truck. I've even tried selling my 2000 gmc sierra and still cant bring myself to do it. So im attached to my rigs, im still heart broken about selling my 1984 gmc sierra, god what a great truck but i was 16 and stupid. That 84 will always be where my attachment lies, it wasnt special but it was to me it was what made me fall in love with older trucks it had 350 auto-GM Turbo 400 ,turbo mufflers dual exhaust headers, a custom made bench seat, but it was my uncles truck and it was a great hunting truck, BUT the best thing about it was it was SIMPLE and it got up and went, my uncle rebuilt the 350 in it and was pushing 300-320 hp nothing special but like i said i am heart broke still!

I keep thinkin' to myself "I can make money rebuilding these things"... but then as I get 'em I name 'em...

...and when I find somethin' that needs fixin', I can't get it outta' my head till it's fixed...

There's a sense of familiarity to 'em, and a sense of freedom, and every control is exactly where my hand expects it to be (not that there's any LOT of controls there)... and my bought-used Carrhart barn coat doesn't seem at all out of place... and YEAH there's motor oil on the steering wheel! What?? :)

let's see if I add up all the parts plus the time to rebuild it all...Nobody would ever give me that much.:(
But it's worth even more than that to me.:)

I had a 84' CJ7 in high school and had to sell it because I couldn't afford to keep it up. I told the wife if I ever got a chance I was buying another one and now 15 years later I now have my 80' CJ7 and plan on letting my 8month old son take it for a spin when he is able to drive.

It’s pretty much the same with both of mine, I never let it get past the point of do you want to so we never even talk about how much.
Even when I was so broke I couldn’t pay attention I never considered selling my CJ. Its one of the things that define who I am and what I am about.
When I am gone it will go up to the family ranch and set quietly under a bois d’ Arc tree until it falls into its elemental parts. The thought of some dim witted kid with the mechanical aptitude of a potato “making it look cool” and running it into the ground would be more than I could rest peacefully with. I think it deserves better.
OK so I am sick and crazy because I feel closer to a machine than to 99.999% of the members of my species, I can live with that.

 that's a great answer, its nice to know that i'm not the only sicko

I bought mine in 1990 when I was 19 years old and still have it now. It has been rebuilt several times even a frame replacement. I would say that my Jeep is sticking around for awhile longer. I stopped adding up the money I put into it around the 25k mark. That was before my latest motor rebuild and I just don't want to know the costs any more.

My CJ6 never sell it
My CJ5 , 25 gs could grab it
My JK, make off over pay off and it is gone

I've owned my 74 CJ5 for just over a year. I traded two rifles for it and have put about $800 into it so far. I plan to replace the tub this summer so there goes more money. :D
How much would it take for me to part with it? Enough to buy two more in running condition. That's before I replace the tub, after, twice that.:D

I really only sell Jeeps to buy other Jeeps. Im gonna be knocking the fleet back to back to 2 though so yeah I can put a price on my CJ5 . $3500

Well my fiancee said we can have a "Jeep Family" i already told her im going to get a CJ5 and a 8 and whatever else i can grab cheap except the 8. I plan on hopefully have a few sons if im lucky and im gonna buy them CJ's so they can have those, if they want them, if not ill keepem for myself :D

good plan, i want a son to if we ever have kids

 Every guy wants sons...Its written in our genetic code somewhere.
But I will admit (now :)) that girls can be OK too. My daughter, at 18 months old, started calling "my" Jeep - "HER" Jeep! Right now (at 4 years old) she has been laying on the guilt trips like crazy. "Daddy, I really like to Mud Bogg...But I can't cause the Jeep is broken..." was heard a few times this weekend.
So would I put a price on it? Yea, done it a couple times now. Can't seem to find anyone to pay that kind of money for it...Then again the wife has taken the "For Sale" sign out of my hands (literally) once or twice also.
But when it comes down to it, If it came to my family's needs, or the Jeep, There won't be a second's indecision in what will happen.

I have 2 daughters myself 13 and 11. The wife wanted to try for a boy. Um no. I got snipped. Good thing as we are now divorced anyway. ;)

I was disappointed to have a daughter for almost one heart beat. she looked at me, I looked at her, she screamed and I fell in love and had a new reason to live.
And just for the record, under the proper circumstances, she turns as good a wrench an any male child I could have hoped for. She has never had a problem getting dirty with her old man.
I had always planned to give her the CJ when she was old enough but when the time came I decided it would be better to find something that did better than 12 MPG and the CJ isn't quite as "forgiving" to an inexperienced driver as some other vehicles mite be. And maybe me and the CJ have a couple more adventures left in us.

don't get me wrong we have several nieces and thier cool but, if we have a daughter there is no chance in hell shes gonna work on my jeep with me because my wife will have her all girly and worried she'd break a nail before shes two. trust me my two year old niece is already like that because of my wife and mom, super girly not that theres anything wrong with it, i mean after all they are girls
