When did Hiback seats start?

my 78 and 79 CJ7 's both had high backs that sure looked original

If they we're original CJ high backs they were either purchased new from the dealer in 1980-86 or they were swapped from a later CJ.

I don't know..I had them both about 30 years ago..passenger seats and everything matched on them..

That could explain why my 78 and 79 both had swapped in high back seats. I never knew what the cut off year was.
