Sometimes people will start a build and not have a clear direction especially when alot of money will be thrown at the rig. In my case I have my trusty CJ5 that I have owned for 21 years and my recently aquired CJ8 that I have always lusted over. One of them I want to do some light to moderate offroading and the other will be a street queen stock looking daily summer driver.
I originally planned to build the scrambler into a wheeling rig and then restore my 5 100% to stock. Then over the course of the last 9 months I have been heavily researching Scramlber builds and values. I started on my build but due to the amount of work need I can still go in any direction. I finally came to a conclusion that I want the Scrambler as my street queen and here were the reasons.
1st the 5 allready has everything to make it a great wheeler except for the cage. Even though it is my baby, financially it doesn't make sense to have to basically rip all the parts off it to convert back to stock and spare time is not on my side lately.
2nd, Scramblers are worth alot more than the 5's and due to the increasing rarity, they are harder to purchase in good condition.
3rd, I run into a recently finished stock restoration on another site and it looks like this! DAYUM!!!! That pic is the reason why I fell in lover with Jeeps all along! So finally after 9 months of owning the 8 and 6 months into the build I finally have a clear path. Sometimes the most basic decision is the hardest one of all.
