Where do I buy a brake return spring. 1981 CJ-7

Mine is sagging, got a motorcycle helmet crammed under it now to keep the brake lights off. Sounds like a pain to replace, but I can't even find a place to order the spring. Thanks for any suggestion.

If I remember correctly mine didnt have a return spring. The master cylinder returned the peddle back to its normal position. Im sure someone who knows for sure will chime in with the answer though:confused:
 
your problem may be more a question of the switch adjustment than the spring replacement. IMHO :cool:

but it seems that spring is very similar to a drum brake spring. that may give you a way to go but it may require a bit of creativity.
 
Thanks, I will check the connector. But my brake pedal is sagging about 1" so I suspect it needs a new spring. Looks like a hard to find item at this point. I will be sure to check the connector before doing anything else. I appreciate the suggestion.

I believe the spring is part of the brake cable. It goes between the lead (ball) on the end of the cable and would rest on a sloted holder were the brake cable sleeve would rest. You will need to replace the cable to repair the problem.
