Where do I buy a brake return spring. 1981 CJ-7

Mine is sagging, got a motorcycle helmet crammed under it now to keep the brake lights off. Sounds like a pain to replace, but I can't even find a place to order the spring. Thanks for any suggestion.

If I remember correctly mine didnt have a return spring. The master cylinder returned the peddle back to its normal position. Im sure someone who knows for sure will chime in with the answer though

your problem may be more a question of the switch adjustment than the spring replacement. IMHO

but it seems that spring is very similar to a drum brake spring. that may give you a way to go but it may require a bit of creativity.

Thanks, I will check the connector. But my brake pedal is sagging about 1" so I suspect it needs a new spring. Looks like a hard to find item at this point. I will be sure to check the connector before doing anything else. I appreciate the suggestion.

I believe the spring is part of the brake cable. It goes between the lead (ball) on the end of the cable and would rest on a sloted holder were the brake cable sleeve would rest. You will need to replace the cable to repair the problem.
