I've finally gotten around to doing some rewiring in the CJ. I've ripped out the crappy tape deck radio, the single speaker in the dash. I've got a pretty nice Pioneer head unit to put in the Tuffy center console, wire up a couple of new speakers, that kind of stuff.

I just can't figure out where to put a CB. I've got a couple, a small Cobra 19 DXIII, a Cobra 18 ultra w/ weatherband, and somewhere in one of the boxes I've got a really big old Uniden, somewhere. I've looked at putting it in the factory radio hole, which the PO cut out to fit a new stereo, that he took out before I bought it, I've also looked at mounting it to the back of the Tuffy console, but I don't know that I like that idea.

If you've got a CB, would you post up a picture of where it is and how it's mounted? Just so I could get a few idea's? Thanks :chug:

I run full roll cages so mine are mounted on teh spreaders between the main hoop and the front hoop, oh I put 2 spreaders in just so I can mount them there. I mount my CB in front. My 2 meter behind that both angled down to use less room and the speakers I mount on the main hoop facing forward. If you run a dual radio system like that you need to mount the antennaes on either side of the cab so they do as little interference of each other as possible

I have an 50mm ammo can for a center console and it fits my CB, my stereo and an Amp for my speakers plus all my paperwork and anything else I need.

Elwood,
I saw on another forum where the guy mounted the CB to the underside of the lid then made a jumper where the microphone attached to the outside of the lid. If I can find it again I will send it to you:chug:

Put a cage in that thing so you can mount it up here.

is it hard to hear the CB with that set up?

I can't hear anything on the highway, but I can hear it fine on the trails and going slow on the back roads.
I have thought of mounting a speaker closer to my head, and will some day.

In all my Jeeps I have run the CB mounted off the winshield frame or the bar off the full cage. I can hear it fine. and grab the mike easy.
