I just took the Scrambler in for the 4.0 head swap project. In doing further research, I'm coming to wonder if I have the wrong carb. I'm pretty sure mine is the 32/36 DGEV progressive carb. According to their site, Weber recommends the 38 DGAS synchronous carburetor for engines that have any modifications beyond stock. Making The Right Choice 32 or 36

"The 32/36 DGV progressive carburetor(s) are designed to provide the market with an economical performance carburetor conversion that while increasing Hp also improves drivability and fuel economy over the stock carburetor. The kits using the 32/36 progressive carburetor is the optimum carburetor for use as a replacement carburetor for a worn out or hard to maintain factory carb"

"The 38mm DGAS synchronous carburetor should be the only consideration if the engine is in the future or currently going to have any level of additional engine modification. Such as headers, free flowing exhaust, a cam, or rebuilt engine. Usually these motors will be improved over stock with oversize pistons and towing cam. The 38 will enhance the improvements of any of these items. The 6 cylinder engine applications are particularly enhanced by this application. In-fact on ALL JEEP and LAND CRUSER applications with any upgrades this is a mandatory choice. Other wise the progressive will require extensive re-calibration to work properly "

Thus, should I swap the 32/26 progressive for a 38 synchronous? My mods will be: DUI HEI, 4.0 head on AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l , & Flowmaster Super 50....

Def go with the 38. ANY modifications at all will put the 32/36 as too small.

Which ever you choose, post the results please... I've got my engine at the machine shop now. I'm planning on a complete rebuild, bigger cam, bore etc. with 4.0 head conversion.
Problem is I have the smaller weber and I'm scared It'll be to small. I just replaced the plugs a month ago and when I tore the motor down they where black. I'm hoping from too much gas. ha ha
