Hey guys, I recently started hearing a whining noise when I accelerate out of 1st, 2nd and 3rd. I have a T-5 and a Dana 300 . I’ve already eliminated the rear end. Any thoughts on what this whining noise is?

When was the last time you ck'd the oil levels?

Do you have a passenger in the jeep with you? Does said passenger not like wind in their hair or like four wheeling?

You sure it's not a vacuum leak? I had a whine/whistle on mine that took forever to figure out that ended up being loose intake manifold mounting bolts.

What oil are you running in the T-5 ? Is the noise thru-out the rpm range?

Put a wrench to ALL of the manifold nuts/bolts.
You want 1-1 1/4" clutch pedal free travel. No more-no less.
Check your exhaust system for holes.
Are you sure it's not a belt related noise??
When was the last time you greased the u-joints and DS slip splines?

Is the noise present all the time, regardless of speed or amount of throttle given? Mine makes a high pitched squeal only under heavy acceleration that drove me nuts until I figured it out. I have the Mopar MPI with a K&N filter and after a ton of searching for what I thought was some kind of vacuum/air leak, it turned out that the K&N filter was the culprit. Once I figured that out, the noise no longer bothers me ;)

It only makes the noise when accelerating in 1st, 2nd & 3rd. It’s a new sound. I suspect Transmission or Transfer Case .

Lock the hubs and put the t'case in 4HI.
Does it still make this noise?
Have you even ck'd the manifold bolts yet........

Lots of sensor issues with folks run'n those K&N's.
IMHO-Good back to a good paper filter. K&N doesn't filter well.....

I already did that plus I removed the rear drive shaft to make sure it wasn’t the rear end. Still makes the noise. As far as the manifold bolts, it’s not that kind of sound but I’ll check.

I know you run a T-5 , thought you might have some ideas.

The only 'whining' I ever had in my CJ came from the passenger seat.

Just because you removed the rear DS. That really doesn't eliminate the rear axle.
How do you know it's NOT coming from the engine bay?
You could have a bad WP, PS or altenator bearing.
