Hey Guys,
My windshield glass looks pretty crappy. I've tried cleaning it, but it doesn't improve much. Do you guys have any tips or products that help restore vintage glass, or do I just need to buy a new one? There are no cracks or anything.

I've had surprisingly good luck with the RainX kit. The one with the paste and so forth. it really cleans the glass quite well.

Thanks Guys,

I'll try the vinegar and simple green first and if that doesn't work, I'll order the rainX kit since the local guys don't seem to stock that.

Sponge, I see you are in Libertyville. I went to Highland Junior High before I moved up to Grayslake for high school.

If it's just dirty what they said should work for you. But windshields tend to get all pitted up and if that is what you are dealing with all you can do is replace it. I have seen old glass that the lamination has gotten cloudy also and all you can do is replace it also. I hate to see you spend a lot of time and elbow grease on it if thats what you have. They are pretty cheap. Hope this helps.:chug:

Well if it's like what mtnwhlr says, as mine pretty much was, the RainX "should" clean it. May take a couple applications. Think of it as Meguires for glass...

If not then yes you'll need to replace as he stated. Worth a try.

ha! small world..

I moved to Libertyville this past summer from Lexington KY. Nice town to raise kids...not Lexington... will be 'home' soon I imagine. Kind of like a small town the city/suburbs grew around.

I grew up in Decatur, Central Illinois. Lots of corn and soy beans! ;) Military took me all over the map. Ended up in Colorado for 10 years and now permanently in  Texas ("It suits my style."). Guess where that quote came from......................................................................The movie "Best Little Whore House in Texas" with Dolly Parton. :D

Same for me PB, I got to see a bit of the world with the military. Just retired from the Army this past September. I do miss the trees of northern Illinois, but it is 68 degrees today in El Paso, so it doesn't hurt too bad...

Grew up in northern Indiana, lived outside Philly for a bit, all over Chicago and all three sides of the burbs, Lexington KY for a while, now L-Ville.

Flown all over the world for work which I love but love being home more...midwest is definitely my style. But sure enjoyed the south/ohio valley and will be back one day!
