Was there really a Red Dawn edition of the CJ? I had read that Chrysler made a tomb raider edition TJ so I would think that the idea wouldn't be too far fetched.

Or did someone just get some WOLVERINE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Decals made and stick them on there.

I've been wrong before, but I call BS

I'll second that... BS! I have never heard of this in my reading, nor has anyone ever posted a clip from the movie or a commercial. I'd have to see proof of this before I'll buy his story. Not a bad price though. Kind of seems too low if it's in so good of shape and "rare"!

Well it hasnt met the reserve and is on auction. My gues is the reserve is at least 11000. But maybe those holes he drilled in the dash and what ever the he77 that is he put ont he shifters makes the price drop lower than expected.

Saw this before and called B.S. What's really most impressive about this CJ is it has almost no "service" rust.

Right, meaning most of the rust happened when it was parked and not driving "in service";)

Although the paint code matches the color (Classic black) I'm not buying the wolverine decal as factory.
They did a horrible job on the engine with blue over spray on the PS cap, alternator fins, air filter housing sticker, and spark plug wires (some are blue some are orange). First time I saw anyone paint the heater hoses. Top it off the colors are not correct.

I see a potential vacuum leaks, no battery hold down bracket, air box missing bolts, air duct missing, and the jack is missing on the right fenders.

But it has the super rare wolverine sticker that he had printed at the vinyl shop.

It's a 1980 Jeep. Is the buyer supposed to believe that 1984's Red Dawn premier actually benefited from five+ years planning?

If so, the movie should have been better; much better.

was the 4 banger even offered in Laredos? I am emailing the guy right now to tell him he is using false information to sell his jeep.

My thoughts were the 4 cyl came out in 81 however, the tag has a B code for GM 151 . Could have been a late 80. Typically the Laredo would have been offered with a AMC 304 or AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l in 80.

Those rims look 76-79 Renegade and not the Laredo with small holes to mount the hub covers.

Still don't buy it as a factory edition. Why would they predate the movie? Very strange

My guess would be that the studio bought a bunch of used cjs and had put the decals on them to promote the movie release. If it trully is a thing. but still doesnt make sense why they wouldnt purchase new ones and retrofit them.

Just for my own amusement I sent the seller an email asking if he had any documentation to back up his "studios...rare..." claim. His response was to Google "wolverine CJ and I'd get all the proof I needed" No asshat, that did nothing to further your claim. In fact other than a handful of folks, all I found is that they have no good idea and are guessing at the origin themselves. These are the only different "editions" I found while Googling.

During its 11 years, the CJ7 had various equipment packages:

Renegade 1976-1986 (2.4D L6-2.5-AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l -5.0 AMC 304 V8)
Golden Eagle 1976-1980 (5.0 AMC 304 V8)
Golden Hawk 1980 (5.0 AMC 304 V8)
Laredo 1980-1986 (2.4D-AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l I6)
Limited 1982-1983 (2,500 units were built as a Limited -production luxury model), AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l I6 with T-5 or Automatic transmissions.
Jamboree Edition (2,500 units that were built for the 30th anniversary) 2.5 L and AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l L

Apparently there was a liberty edition made for NYC (I am quoting something Onlyinajeepcj told me last night)

Even if his story is true, there is no way that paint, striping, etc is original and in that good of condition. The frame, skid plate, butchered dash all show signs of wear, rust and molestation. The body can't look that good and the core look that bad at the same time while being 'garaged'. Definite BS.

:agree: Looks like a ploy to get more $$$ for a regular CJ
