SO I got out of work a little early today came home looked at the Jeep and said yeah I go to do it!!"was feeling a little ballsy, I grab the key, the registration and the proof of insurance stuff them in my back pocket jump in the Jeep fire it up "give it the five minutes at 1/4 throttle to warm it up" pull the stick back to 1'st slowly ease the clutch out, and off I go down the driveway make a left onto the road hit the brakes at the stop sign, Turn right , ease her up to 35-40 hit second, now I am just ear to ear grin:D, She's purring like a kitten, I go to the end of the road "about a Mile" and have to make the decision turn around or go left and head towards the Gulf, ok left it is " but a little nervous this is our first road trip" make it down to the Gulf what could be a better second attempt at the maiden voyage then cruising down the shores of the Gulf of Mexico no doors no top and all the sun you could want! I head towards home pull in the driveway look at the GPS "no Speedo" and see that I went 29mi. And the Jeep ran great!! This little trip has definately hooked me, and made all the past months work and struggles with her well worth it, I know I still got some work to do, but damn am I stoked!!!!!:chug:

Now the things I noticed

The clutch is wierd, hard to explain I let it out and it kinda engages it's self like my foot is off it and it still feels like it is engaging? It is slipping when hard exceleration is happening.
Brakes are stopping but feel very hard "this could be because it has been many many years since driving non power brakes"
Steering feels sloppy, got about 1" of dead space in the wheel
have to get RPM's up when starting from a stop or it will try to stall out and won't recover.
Got to figure out something with the exhaust, but atleast now I can drive it to the shop to see if they can do anything with it :D

Aint that just the greatest feeling?...:)

It's a dangerous thing, going out the door, first thing you know your in the road and headded for adventure.

Jeeps are great aint they.:bounce:

Thats great. :D I park my CJ all winter, and the first rides of the season after it's warm enough are still like that, even after all these years.:chug:

Yeah.....It's ok for a while, then the holidays are gone, nothing to do but watch the snow fly. About the end of Feb I'm out there staring at it like a love sick teenager.:o

I remember those days  I am originaly from Northern Vermont if your familiar with Burlington Vt I was another 30 miles north. "only been down here a few years" around September putting up the Jet Ski's, Motor cycle and the Iroc for the winter and then just staring at them all winter long. and the friggen winters just never seem to end, then bringing them out for a few months of enjoyment LOL I have gotten a little spoiled down here can play with the toys year round :D

Congrats on your newest voyage! :notworthy:

You need to adjust the clutch out, you probably have the throw out arm engaged and the throw out bearing is pushing against the pressure plate. You'll wear out your bearing in no time if you don't adjust this.. :)

Non power stops hard.... Just the way it is...

1" isn't bad... How is the gear box? Remember - this 'ain't' no rack and pinion beast! :)

congrats:chug: you might want to check your timing and your carb adjustments for when you take off and it falls on its face.
