I just bought a hardtop like this one. Can anyone tell me who makes this top. I believe this one was the one offered as a factory option on early CJ5 's. It was offered with either sliding or hinged doors. It's all metal(which disassembles) with the exception of the "roof". That's made out of fiberglass. That's all the info I know

Anyone? There's gotta be someone here who can tell me a few things about this top...

I didn't find anything via that link related to the top I have. I guess I must have an extremely-ultra-super-rare top

I checked out the links, but they are not the Sears. Mine has the slanted side glass and the doors are different.

Although I don't know what type/namebrand your HT is, here's a thread that will keep you busy for hours:

Picture request, CJ5s with ACME hardtop - JeepForum.com

Granted the majority of the Heeps within the above thread are post '76, there are some earlies in there too, along with some useful links.

Good luck, and BTW, in searching for info on your "extremely-ultra-super-rare top", you should post a picture of your actual HT instead of one found online...jus' sayin!

All I can find;

I think it looks more like the Meyer, but I honestly don't know. Good luck on your search :chug:

Thanks for the link. I will take a look. I will post pictures of the actual top when next time I'm in the garage. The first pic above i I got online before I picked up the top, but its exactly the same.

elwood blues - While searching for info on this, I too, saw the koenig top, but it's not it. It looks like that one is all steel, but my "roof" is all fiberglass(and ribbed). That one also has the square back side glass, where mine are a little slanted. I would say that my top resembles an FJ40 top. The doors have that glass triangle, and the "roof" stick out on the front a few inches(kinda like a hat bill). Also I think FJ40 have a ribbed "roof" just like my top. Also my hatch opens up, like a flat old school garage door, where it opens up and slides in at the top.

SKT (or anyone here) any special requests on picture angles that you would like me to take, which will help identify this top?

I've honestly spent days searching...and have only seen maybe 3-4 other jeeps online with the same top. All I've seen are those Koenig and Sears tops.

Anyway, I will post additional pictures later today.

NP, again most of the HTs and pics within are late models, but there are still several early CJ's mixed in.

It is however, the most info gathered on CJ5 's that I have seen on the Internet.

I'm sure you have scanned the entire top for markings, but did you look on the inside really closely? I have seen some that will have a small data plate/manufacture info affixed to the inside of the HT, normally toward the rear hatch area.

Trying to research CJ5 hardtop information in general is difficult, due to the Limited numbers, and the fact that there were several different companies producing small numbers of them.

As you will see from the above thread, I had done a tremendous amount of research trying to find out as much info as I could on my Acme HT and doors for my '77 CJ5 . I recently traded that Jeep off, so am no longer investing the time I had been into CJ5 hardtops.

Good luck, and I am looking forward to the pics! You may want to try posting in the provided thread on Jeepforum, as there are a lot of members on that forum and someone may be able to help you out!

Here are the pics I promised

a few more. Top is still in the works. On the green parts, the jeep was stripped down to metal and sprayed with etching primer.
