I am still pretty bored because I can't finish my 4.0 project until I get the damned spacers for the head. The other day I picked up some used XJ Bushwacker bolt on flares (normally 400 bucks new) for 50 bucks and a FSJ ''Pignose'' Grill I had laying about. While I was there I saw a very abused Yj and the owner started talking about how he wanted the cj style sideviews that mount to the windsheild hinges. I asked what he was going to do with his sideview (only had driver) and he said he was going to drive it till he broke it. I said "Well, hell how bout I give you 15 bucks" and a deal was made. I actually only had 5 on me so I am supposed to paypal him the rest but his buddy was supposed to PM me the account and never did. So until then I will just convieniently forget that I owe him 10 bucks .
I looked it up and these units are like 40 new so not bad. I still don't know what I am going to do when I take off my full doors but what ever.
Easy install. Just drill three holes and tap them into you original hard door hinge. I also took the opportunity to adjust my doors for a better seal. I have a buddy that actually mounted one of thes to the windsheild hinge and it looks pretty cool. Only issue is that if you want to run a matched set you wont be able to see the pass mirror from the driver's seat.
I accidentaly tapped the holes too big so I had to run to the hardware store and get some bigger ones. Only could find silver screws so I herculined them....Didnt look as cool as I imagined it
Installed.... Tomorrow I got to pull off the interior panel and remove my 'Limited ' mirror and figure out some sort of block off plate that doesn't look like poo.
