You have heard it before-fuel delivery
I have an 81 Renegade . Looks like it was driven through hell and back but running wise a lot has been done to it. Motor is sound, tranny rebuilt, Transfer Case rebuilt, carb rebuilt. Well normally it runs great. But it took to draining back fuel and leaving carb and fuel filter empty after sitting for a couple days. Well pulled it into the garage and it wouldn't start the next day. PERIOD. Even priming the carb several times few drips of gas. It would fire but would pump gas to the through the filter and into the carb. SOOO I figured it must be the fuel pump. UH oh bad luck is about to start. Get fuel pump. Wrong actuation lever. Get correct one and gasket cement is dried out so I make guide bolts to hold gasket in place. 3/8" gap behind pump and I manage to drop a guide bolt into the block. Remove all the
n the way, jack up motor and remove pan. THERE it is. (may take it to the range and shoot it to show my disfavor at its little trick). Back together. prime it up and all runs like a top.3 days later I pull into garage and unload groceries hop in and starts and runs to the end of the drive way. NO GAS in the see through gas filter. Take of lines and fill carb with gas and bypass filter with straight hose. Fires up and runs just chippy until float bowl runs out of fuel I am at a toatla loss as to why fual is not getting sucked by new fual pump when it did for 3 days and ran like a new rig. Thinking the line may be plugged and may try blowing whatever is in it back out the way it came if that is the problem. BTW it has a new fuel tank (5yo) and pick up filter on it as well.
I am at a total loss.
