Very nice work on your restoration. I get a kick out of how you're prolonging the joy by getting a few parts at a time. It should look like it came off the showroom floor when you're done.
I'm using your build as a reference as I wade into mine. More rust and patches than yours and I'm fab'ing my parts, so I call it a rebuild.
just a side note? do you guys cut the tub/bed/cab in half and work on it that way? like the back seat area, and the front cab area? does this make sense.
Yes that is the best way to go you don't want to cut to much out at one time because then it starts flexing and your new panels will not fit right. So start in the front and work your way back our start in the back and work your way to the front. As we all know if never ends, but that's ok because when its finished all the rust will be gone!!! Thanks and I will be posting a few new pictures in the morning. It looks Great! To be honest I do agree with the guys to try to do it by the piece, but it sounds like you have the same situation I had, everytime I took one piece off the next had more rot. The nice thing is you are replacing with a lot of new parts which helps. I did cut everything off from the firewall back except for the center tranny section. The best advise I can give is get a bunch of straps and clamps. I used a ton of the dollar clamps from Home Depot they work great, I also had a bunch of metal C clamps. Also take as many mesurements as possible if you do decide to chop it off. I had a hard top that I was able to use to get good measurements from also, and if you keep the old back half together you can always use it as a guide. It can be done just take your time! I really like your rear floor pan it looks much nicer than the one I used. Keep the pictures coming.
