1974 CJ5 Alternator Wiring

I would like to know if anyone can tell me how to wire up my alternator.
1974 CJ5 AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l straight 6
I have attached images of the Alternator and external voltage regulator.
I have read through the haynes manual and reviewed forum information that i could find and the alternator is still not charging/operating properly.
Any help would be appreciated.

Interesting, the Haynes manual is quite complete with the setup of the Motorola alternator. Those crimp terminals do not hold up very well, unless soldered and sealed.

I did not want to make the connections permanent until it was connected correctly, thanks for the tip.

It's a serious "grimlin" system!

I had quite a bit of trouble with it for a while...

This is Wiring diagram from FSM...

I also found AFTER replacing the alternator that was on it, all of a sudden I needed the diode to stop reverse flow of voltage that would cause run on... Then when it still was acting up, I found a large red wire going into the firewall had separated almost completely from its fitting...

A lot of solder and time and but i finally have not had further issues with it since... I've also been staying out of the "deep" mud holes

Not sure what alternator you have, many came with a 37Amp. A AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l with A/C car came with a 68A. Uses the same regulator.
