My CJ7 is fuel filler hose is leaking. I can not find one anywhere to replace it. It seems as if all the parts stores only carry filler hoses for 1978 and above CJ7 's. Where can I get another hose?

Hello xcfamily and welcome to the site! :chug:

As far as I know - there are no current aftermarket 77 hoses for that CJ. The ~76 and 78~ hose are shorter and won't work.

About the only thing you can do is buy a used on from a yard like J&W Auto Wreckers: New & Used Jeep Parts or try and make one from some flex tubing... :(

Unfortuantely they don't sell it... one thing to consider is IF and WHEN you replace the tank, get one from a 79 and up and you can use the regular hoses.

I know it doesn't help, but in the long run you will be better off.

What do I need to replace the 77 tank with a 79 tank?

If you already ahve the 79 tank, you will just need the fillter hoses and the filler neck, the plastic fill should work fine. as the neck is attached to it with 6 screws.

I used a 78' filler hose and spliced in a piece of stainless pipe- clean cuts, tight clamps, no rubs, no leaks.

and no, I am NOT riding around on a rocket.

( but the P.N. for the napa one would be cool):D

I took my old hose to auto zone and matched it up to one they had that was close. Works like a charm.

You have intelligent people at your auto zone??
That’s remarkable!!
who would have ever thought it possible?

Scramblers are a different part than a CJ7 .;)

I concur, the employees at my AutoZone leave much to be desired.;)

We decided to retrofit with a 79 tank. Everything went great until we went to put the 79 fuel filler and vent hoses on. They are about 2.5 inches short. Any ideas?

You could take the hose to your friendliest local parts emporium & see what they have to compare or you can find some stainless steel or aluminum tubing similar size to the hose. Cut the hose, insert the tubing & hose clamp both sides tightly.

just do what my wifes nephew did with his scout.
Duct tape the vent closed so nothing gets in or out, fill the tank at the pipe coming out of the tank and stuff a raw potato in the hole to close it. I would not use the same potato for more than a week or so especially in the summer.
this worked pretty well for him except when the potato would fall out and the tank would get filled up with water and mud. You know I don't think the boy ever did fully grasp how the water ended up in the carburetor.
Oh yea, and the gas is going to eat the duct tape pretty quick too so replace that often as well.

really, in the long run, I like the Horns idea better.
