1979 CJ5 350 small block Chevy 350 turbo trans factory diff's
I recently picked up my first jeep project. The person I got it from put a 350 small block Chevy and a 350 turbo Transmission . And that's all that had been done. Now I need to get driveshafts custom made. But I am wondering if anyone knows where I can get a Transmission support mount the guy who had it before me just welded in some angle iron to hold it temporarily.

Best bet is going to be a custom made mount. You can try to modify a stock CJ skid plate but most people end up fabbing thier own.

yep,I just build my own

I found an old pic of my mount with the stock skid plate

Thanks for the input guys I figured that's what I would have to do. Has anyone heard of someone putting a 350 turbo automatic Transmission in a CJ I personally would rather g have a manual but I hate to get rid of a perfectly good Transmission . I am having trouble finding a way to make the shift linkage come up high enough through the floor board.

I have 2 CJ7 's with 350 turbos and love them

Yep, love my TH350, I just built a mount to get the shifter up higher and where I could reach it easy.

yeah,I built an extension on one of mine too..My other one has a Lokar shifter that I really like..People that see it think it is a manual shifter..

What axles did you go with? The output of the Transfer Case doesnt line up with the rest end. It is really close and about 8 inches high how did you get around that?

What Transfer Case are you running? you may need to get a Double cardan CV drive shaft for it. You can also make the cross member so it lowers the end of the tras some. Can you put a angle finder on the Transfer Case output and rear end to see what the angles are. Also what type of Transmission mounting block are you using? There are several different sixe of those block. Some are short and some are really tall.. IF you got the tall version change it to a shorter one.

The close problem come from the TH350-- its alot longer then the manual that came out of the jeep.

there are not a lot of Transmission /transfer cases that I have found to run in a jeep other than jeep without dropping the axle back..that's just been my experience but all I ever attempt are chevy parts
