Hey newbie here. I got a 1980 CJ7 with the 2.5 GM 151 iron duke and not sure bout the Transmission . Rev is where first should be and first is where third should be. I also have a complete 1997 jeep grand cherokee with a 4.0 and automaic Transmission . wantin to put the 4.0 and maybe the Transmission if possibe cause cj Transmission was kickn out second. could someone help with what this swap might consit of

Not an expert by any means, but you will probably have to get an adapter for the t case. And make sure the bell housing is on the right sidof the axle for the swaps, they changed it to a driver side driveshaft/bell housing later on.

I had the same set up except it was an 83 I had the iron duke and T-5 with Dana 300

I swapped in a 95 cherokee 4.0L and AW4 auto with a novak adapater between the AW4 and Dana 300

You need the factory 6cy engine mounts both the engine side and frame outriggers then the rest is pretty straight forward plenty of info on the web about the wiring


You do end up with a long skinny front drive shaft and a very short rear
