Trans 1980s Drive Train conversion to 1970s

1977 CJ7 has AMC 232 i6 , Borg Warner SR4 Transmission , and Dana 300 transfer. Verified 1977 by VIN. I want to keep the Dana 300 , but replace the Transmission and engine. I’ve thought about staying AMC - T-18 Transmission and 360 engine. But I would need a new bell housing, right? What would be my easiest and least expensive swap? GM 350 and SM465? Ford T-18 and 302? Or try to stay all AMC?

I'd say a lot depends on what you do/intend to do with it...that's where I'd start
