1984 CJ 7
I have just purchased a 1984 CJ7 with 35" tires and a slight lift. I don't know how to find out how much the lift is, any help would be appreciated.
Also trying to determine why the jeep lurches left or right when I get into the throttle or when I let off. I really need to resolve this as it is a safety issue,

Make sure the tire pressure is the same-maybe 25psi each.
I have to ask:confused:--Did you not test drive it before purchase?
I would have made the seller resolve that safety issue, or passed on buying it.
Get it to an alignment shop and get a full print out on camber, caster & toe-in.

Thanks very much for your input. Yes I did know about this and used it to lower the price, I take it in next week for work and have ordered shims to adjust the caster.

The lurching left while getting on the throttle and right when off the throttle is indicative of a locker, but it also likely has some caster issues if it was lifted and not aligned after. Did the seller re-gear it? 35's are hard on a stock CJ driveline, especially if it still has stock gearing

:agree: 110% with this.
Do you now what the current R&P ratio is.
Let us hear what the printout on the alignment tells you.
Can you post up pictures showing the frontend and such?
