I remember those days, barely, over 41 years ago. ;) I still love mine just as much.
 
Still working on all the ticky-tack stuff before carpet goes in. Replace the stub shaft in the short throw shifter to move the stick close to the drivers side. This stub moves the lever over 2" and back an inch. Gained just about another inch to the left by mounting the stick on the other side. So it ended up moving about 3" to the left and 1" back. MUCH better reach on it now. Here some before and afters...

Tested part of the sound system today. Only 2 dash speakers and a sub in open air right now to make sure all the connections were good and the head unit worked. Got 2 6x9's to add yet and make a console to fit the sub with some storage if theres room...
