I remember those days, barely, over 41 years ago. I still love mine just as much.

Still working on all the ticky-tack stuff before carpet goes in. Replace the stub shaft in the short throw shifter to move the stick close to the drivers side. This stub moves the lever over 2" and back an inch. Gained just about another inch to the left by mounting the stick on the other side. So it ended up moving about 3" to the left and 1" back. MUCH better reach on it now. Here some before and afters...

Tested part of the sound system today. Only 2 dash speakers and a sub in open air right now to make sure all the connections were good and the head unit worked. Got 2 6x9's to add yet and make a console to fit the sub with some storage if theres room...

Could you please post a PIC/PICS of the exhaust on the pass side back?

I need to install one on mine, currently just the stock manifolds (want headers) are in place. Concerned with the fuel lines running on pass side.

Mounted the exhaust tonight. Could get an X-Pipe in and was worried it would be too loud, but this sounds perfect to me. Even got full a full approval on the sound from the wife!

Got the rear interior mostly buttoned up tonight. Installed the carpet, seat, seat belts, and speakers.

Test fitting front carpet and cable routing before final seat install. THEN, it's on to see what I can make for a custom console.


Had to remake the seat adjuster handles for the wider seats...

Getting more interior stuff done, made new seat mount to move the wider seat over. Got the shift levers set. Now to make some custom boots!

Working on the boots now... Never even looked at sewing machine before I attempted this, so forgive the sloppiness.... It should do what it's supposed to though!

NICE! I looked at that boot setup but my shifters don't line up the same as the Dana 300 . I'm sure the TR-4050 throws that off some too. The boot patterns are what I'm going for though. I have to make a new stainless boot ring too because my Transfer Case shifters location seems to be further out than most....

I keep it to myself, once your Rusty Iron Junkie Friends find out you can Sew Things together, they will be expecting you to do a entire Upholstery Job.

If it’s for a Jeep, they just might make your gear shift combo setup. You could contact them. Worth the money. Stronghold Shift Boots.

Thanks for the info. I'll get through these. Good learning project. I've pushed my self beyond my comfort zone in a few areas on this build. So far, I made it through with minimal complications LOL! Completion of this year long project is in sight now, but like they say, the last 10% feels like 90%.

Got the boots done, just need some trimming and make a couple mounting rings. Missed the mark on the upper shift boot shaft opening, went a little large, so gotta fix that, but they're gonna do the job. At least I'm getting used to the sewing machine!

Tackling another skill. LOL! Picked up an embroidery machine. Designed and digitized this photo myself. The colors are NOT the final color set I'll be using on the headrest, but I had some cheap embroidery thread laying around to test the layout. Definitely got some tweaks I need to do, but not bad for the first time designing, using digitizing software, and the machine itself. The layout looks good, but it will really stand out when I can get good thread in the machine!

ONE DOWN! One to go... Couple imperfections due to some thread pucker from pulling up the foam backer tight, but all in all, I think it turned out pretty good! She's going on tomorrow if all goes well!
