Will it work with minor drilling and cutting?
I am looking for a family style cage for my CJ7 so I can get new style 3 point seatbelts for the back seat.

remember though; in a roll over those rear bars have to prevent them from folding in. Unless you cross brace them. I plan to do a similar on my 80 CJ5 , but add addition bracing. The longer family style bar were t make the DOT happy with rear should belts. my .02
that's one of the great things about steel..if you have a torch and welder you can make most anything fit..one of my CJ7 's has a rollbar that was originally for a small pickup truck..yours might be a direct fit but I would think,it might need some minor mods...you can do it
Just as long as you keep this in mind for those who don't realize. These factory setups are "sport" bars, not "roll" bars and definitely not roll "cages". They were designed for looks not so much safety. And the wrangler bars are even less safe. The bars to the windshield frame are not structural and can cave in on the occupants when the flimsy ws. and glass give way. The main hoop (B pillar) is pinched flat for the attachment of the other pieces so that flat will become a fold point. And as was said, the family "L" bars at the rear will just fold in on the rear occupants.
The wrangler bar is weaker than the Jeep bar is but both are considered "sport" bars. Now that being said, it all depends on the type of roll over that might occur. Most likely these will be fine in a tip over but I rely on them for a high speed crash or a forceful impact crash.

Have you considered talking to a local shop and seeing what it would cost for a built roll bar. You could customize it a bit and would be heavier than the YJ sport bar.
