Hey All. Happy New Year.

My first time post.
All the way from Aussie.

Restoring 1979 CJ7 Renegade .

Looking for dimensions of upright “old style” 76-79 1/2 roll bar.

My jeep came with not original YJ bar - one Im not gonna keep.
But the tub has side bolts suggesting the original bar was over the wheel bolt on. (Early 79 bar, not new style)

I will need to get one made. Simply due to the fact availability here is close to zero. Shipping would be a suicide too. $$$

Issue is.
I cannot find any dimensional guides of height, width, radius of tube corners, angles or length / alignment of mounting brackets.
Ill need these to get it made.

Could anyone who has old upright bar kindly take few dims for me?

At this point any info would be greatly appreciated. 🙏🏼❤️🙏🏼

Thank u all.

Seems you are referring to this style where it bolts to the top of the wheel wells and to the sides of the tub rather than the front legs extending down to the floor behind the front seats.

Now as I recall, there are also spacers that go between the roll bar brackets and the insides of the tub. So you'll need those as well. Bolt Set with Spacers

You can buy roll bar kits where the tubing is already cut and bent. You just weld it together. You could also contact Rudy's and see if he's got what you want. He has lots of roll bars and other parts on hand. Rudy's CJs

That's good scoop. I had to go through all the wrong roll bars for my early '79. Looks like the one, in the pic from TSB8C slopes rearward. This would be correct for a CJ5 . If CJ7 , the bar is straight up and down.

Thank you TSB8C and CJKen51

The bar is exactly what Im searching for.

I have spent last night searching.
And even emailed a fabrication place. (Extreme Custom Fabrication)
They are telling me wrong type of kit as the “correct” type bar. I already know its wrong.

And not even one site has a kit like this.
Ive searched for hours.

Emailed Rudy, but still awaiting a reply. He only does USA, so Im not expecting too much due to location (that part sucks in case of owning a CJ7 )

So I guess back to trying to weld one with my welder. If I have a chance to get dimensions.

At least for now… thats where I am at.

If anyone ever measures it - I will draw it up and post a CAD drawing or pdf of correct type for others to be able to use.

And once more thank u for trying - I truly appreciate that.
