3 way fuel filter

Hi..I am new to the board but long time jeeper...I have a 1985 CJ7 6cly 5spd..set up nice for off road..When I got the jeep it had a Weber carb but the odd part they did away with the 3 way fuel filter..So the fuel return line is not being used. The jeep runs ok but not sure about this set up. plus as I learn about the weber carb I read they are fuel pressure sensitive. Sooo Any ideas..In my way of thinking I should go back to the 3way filter using the return line and adding pressure regulator or am I ok keeping things how they are..this comes up because the jeep is running rich..

Mine originally came that way. Yes, it ran rich and was difficult in setting up the carb and timing correctly.

I tried the fuel filter with the return and it didn't get the pressure low enough so I did away with it and the return line and instead, put in a Holley 0-4psi fuel pressure regulator in between the pump and a single line filter. Set it to 3.5psi and it ran great with a much improved efficiency.
