Before you throw a shoe at me, yes, I know this has been discussed ad nauseam , but I can’t find it. Google (and images), here...... I can find countless discussions on the engine mounts, and I remember seeing it within the last month or so - I know one engine mount goes in “tab” up and the other “tab” down..... but for the life of me I can’t remember nor find which one....... mine are both tab up - so one is wrong. I thought about reversing both to make sure I fixed it, but then the other would be wrong LOL. Would someone - anyone - be willing to shed some light on this for me. Pleeeease??

And thank you....

Pretty sure tab up on the left (drivers) and down on the right. I'm not sure if it's possible to switch them since the bolts are on a diagonal and not symmetrical.

Well, it is possible to switch one of em cause mine are both up.... I think. They’re both in the same direction. I’ll swap em while I’m prepping to reinstall the oil pan. THANKS

Umm,

Tab up on both. The tab works as a lock if the rubber breaks. It locks the mount in place so the engine does not drop. It's a little safety feature.

Sweet - That’s the way I have em at the moment. That makes sense..... but I know I read somewhere here that one was supposed to go opposite the other. One less thing I gotta do - I like that.

I kinda wondered about that! Thanks CJ

I've looked at my mounts several times in the last few days, but I can't remember how they're set up. I can check after work in a few hours and confirm. I never noticed if they were opposite, but I'd have to check to make sure.

This^^ When I bought my CJ, it had a AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l one of the engine mounts was upside down. When the mount broke, the engine drop. Oil filter hitting the frame stopped it (busted oil filter and leaked out all of the oil).
