360 four speed auto trans

Hi I was woundering if anyone knew if there was a 4 speed auto Transmission that would bolt up to a 360 that is in my CJ7 of if you can get a turbo 700r4 with an adapter plate?

You need to adapt another tranny like the 700R4 as there was never a 4spd auto offered in the AMC bellhousing pattern.

I've been having good luck with my 700R4 swap using this: Adapting AMC I6 & V8 Engines to GM Automatic Transmissions

There were a couple of minor issues with the kit but the customer service has been top notch in getting things solved quickly. And that's where it really counts. If it's not right, they'll make it right.

The AW4 used in in the XJ's and Grands and the 42Rx used in Grands behind the 4.0 have AMC bolt patterns and physically will bolt up to an AMC V8. Both, however, require electronic controls.

700R4 is easiest and least expensive to do.

Wow. I can't believe I forgot the AW4. I have even recommended it on this same forum. Heck, I own one now in an MJ ( my second) and have a spare sitting under the work bench in my garage.

The AW4 is a nice option in that the control module for it is free-standing. It is completely independent of the motor's ECM controls, if any. If you are willing to so some wiring it doesn't have to have an Transmission Control Module (TCM) at all... you can wire a few toggle switches to do the whole thing.
