4.2 motor build

4.2 motor build
Thanks Yellow! Now the question is, will a later model stamped steel valve cover fit a 91-95 head? I'm selling a 91-95 #7120 head, and it would be nice to know if the later valve covers will work in case someone with a 1999-2003 4.0 buys it to replace their problematic cracking 0331 head.

Almost ready to drop in been busy :D

I hope it runs as good as it looks.

IT LIVES!!!!!!!!!!! I have to get a few things done on it like exhaust, twin stick installed, rear diff filled with oil. Little things like that.

Broke the cam in good oil pressure no weird noises I would say motor sounds good. But I have a problem now it wont idle :censored: :censored:

Id double check the timing. I didn't see what cam you ended up running but its probably going to need you to play with the carb a little now. I usually just crank the idle open until it will run, reset the timing and then start playing around with the idle screws. You should be moving more air so you need more fuel now.

I ended up using a comp cam 68-AMC 232 i6 -4. As for the carb I'm not running one :D I have a howells TBI i pulled the temp sender plug was corroded cleaned it up also reset the timing this time with the vacuum advance unplugged  she runs better now lol computer still needs to learn the motor.

Oh shoot; didnt read the whole thread.

ya sometimes with TBI it can take a while for the IAC to move out to the right position. Once it will idle, start turning on all the accessories one at a time until you have the thing fully loaded.

Glad to hear you got her running! I pushed finishing my motor project back to after Labor Day weekend because I bought a boat last week and need the CJ to haul it. :D

Can you tell a power difference?

Rescue I haven't drove it yet my clutch linkage is pulled apart right now. (working on a hydro clutch set up) the throttle is very crisp can't wait to drive it.

Cool! Been thinking of going with a hydraulic clutch for a while now! Let me know what slave cylinder you use with the T-18 Bell Housing and how well it clears the exhaust. You should do a whole thread with pics on just that swap! :chug:

I might have to do that. I fabed up a hydro clutch in my CJ5 and one in another guys jeep so this will be my 3rd setup.
