4cyl engine question

I just ran the vin of my jeep the owner told me its a iron duke and on jeepz.com said its a 4 Cyl, 2.54 Liter is this the iron duke?? please help a noob out

if you have a '80's jeep with a 4 cylinder it is a GM 151 Iron Duke.

ok awesome im thinking about doing some simple mods like electrical fan electric fuel pump to free up some power just wanted to make sure what i was dealing with

You will never have a hot rod there, just a good solid jeep ..... that is as long as your SR4 Transmission keeps going.

Oh I agree about the hotrod lack there of but want to free up as much hp and torque that I can get from her

The PO to my '80 CJ pulled the carb and put a small Holly on the Iron Duke I 'm familiar with. Sure it wasn't the most pawerful engine in the world, but it pulled me around Southern Arizona well enough. But we live in a fairly dry area. I imagine in deep mud or other boggy terrain it would be nice to have more power.

Well I know there is a aftermarket carb bigger exhaust and new muffler so that helps lol
